The 2018 Midwest Data Librarian Symposium Planning Committee is seeking additional committee members.

The Midwest Data Librarian Symposium<https://mwdatalibrariansymposium.wordpress.com/> (MDLS), now in its fourth year, is dedicated to enabling Midwestern librarians who work with research data management issues the chance to network and learn through a hands-on conference focused on skill building and active discussion.

You do not have to be a "data librarian" to serve on the planning committee but experience with data management/data curation is recommended. We'd love to see metadata specialists, subject librarians, preservation peeps, and archivists apply too!

Planning Committee members are expected to:

* Participate in monthly conference calls.

* Respond to emails in a timely fashion.

* Use Google Docs to coordinate planning materials.

* Attend MDLS in Ames, Iowa in early October*

* Help pick, develop, and/or host sessions.

* Pitch in when something unexpected happens :-)

Planning Committee meetings will start at the end of February and the majority of the work usually occurs in summer and early fall.

To apply please send an email to mno at iastate.edu<mailto:mno at iastate.edu> with MDLS 2018 in the subject line and include:

1. Your full name, email address, position title, and place of employment.

2. A short (1-5 sentences) statement on why you are interested in serving on the committee.

3. 1-3 data related topics that you'd like to see at MDLS 2018

Please contact Megan O'Donnell, the MDLS 2018 Planning Committee Chair, at mno at iastate.edu<mailto:mno at iastate.edu> if you have additional questions.

*A date has been set. Applicants will be told the date before they commit. A save the date will go out in the near future.
