From KOSHOFAE at UCMAIL.UC.EDU Mon Aug 3 17:04:23 2020 From: KOSHOFAE at UCMAIL.UC.EDU (Koshoffer, Amy (koshofae)) Date: Mon, 3 Aug 2020 21:04:23 +0000 Subject: [Rdap] U of Cincinnati Webinar - Publishing Data in Repositories Message-ID: Dear RDAPers, I wanted to share an opportunity for the RDAP community to participate in the UC Libraries Data and Computational Science Series session entitled "Publishing Lifecycle of Data". Though the target audience is UC researchers and there will be a short introduction to our institutional repository, I invite you to join and hear Professor Abigail Goben share her experiences with publishing data. Publishing Data In Repositories - August 10th from 2-3pm The currency of academia has long been the article. However, with supplemental materials in so many formats, the nature of the scholarly output has changed dramatically. Additionally funders and journals are requiring that the evidence for the articles is also available. Repositories are an excellent venue for these additional forms of scholarly, particular the data. In this session, attendees will learn about the nature of changing publication outputs, how repositories can help provide the needed infrastructure to share data and other research outputs, and how to make a bigger impact with your scholarship through publishing in a repository. The speakers are: [cid:image003.png at 01D669B5.69C60330] Meeting information - https://ucincinnati.webex.com/ucincinnati/j.php?MTID=ma00e9a68419f338c2d6960d0fce9afd3 Meeting number (access code): 120 562 7902 Meeting password: MtSQxKZc356 We plan to record the session and publish it in our institutional repository as part of the collection - Publishing Lifecycle of Data. An online version will be running in October-November 2020. Research projects create a lot of data. Although these data should remain available, in practice data often gets lost. To address this problem the GO-FAIR Foundation advocates the FAIR principles. Research data should be Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable in an automated way. FAIR Data Stewards work with researchers to help them make their research data FAIR. In this course you will get an introduction to the knowledge and skills required to work as a data steward. This course is a pilot and is co-developed as part of partnership between the Hogeschool Leiden and the GO-FAIR Foundation. The course is a pilot and is subject to a low fee of 150 euros. Please register by sending an e-mail to cbd at hsleiden.nl The agenda and other information are attached.
