[Rdap] Confidential Library Workplace Experience Survey

Hi RDAP-
I'm sending this out on behalf of colleagues who are working with the
Center for Open Science on a replication study -- I thought this group
might have some folks who were interested in spreading the word throughout
US libraries!  As you probably already know, replication studies are pretty
important and often overlooked, and this topic is pretty important.

Please feel free to distribute this message as you see fit! My colleagues
are hoping for a significant sample size.

Dear Library Faculty and Staff,

Researchers at Virginia Tech are conducting a confidential study (IRB
#20-027) of workplace experience in US university libraries. To this end,
they invite all full-time faculty and staff of the libraries at any US
university to fill out this survey. Participation is completely voluntary
and you may withdraw your consent by stopping at any time. No directly
identifying personal information will be shared with employers or the
public.

This survey replicates an earlier study of library employees at one
university and is part of a larger study funded by the US Department of
Defense and administered by the Center for Open Science to improve
replicability of social science research.

The survey will ask about multiple topics, including your health, workplace
conditions, and experience of workplace harassment. If enough employees
from your university participate, anonymized results will be provided to
your library’s leadership to help improve the experience of you and your
colleagues. Combined with results from other universities, it will be used
to identify growth opportunities to help library workers feel safe and
included. (To protect the identities of participants, we will not provide
results to universities affiliated with fewer than 20 respondents and will
not release data identifying groups smaller than 10 respondents.)

Your decision to participate or not will not be shared with your employers
or the public. If you choose to participate, no personally identifying
information will be shared with employers or the public.
