<div>River Campus Libraries, University of Rochester</div><div>Data Librarian</div><div><br></div><div>The River Campus Libraries at the University of Rochester seeks an innovative and collaborative Data Librarian to design and establish a new research data support service at a leading research university. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Public Services, the Data Librarian plays a key role in developing services and policies to collect, manage, curate, provide access to, and assist in the analysis of data. The Data Librarian will work collaboratively with faculty, graduate students, reference librarians, metadata librarians, and information technology staff to develop and implement a campus-wide data program.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Responsibilities include:</div><div>Develop a comprehensive data management program to serve the needs of faculty and students from the School of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering and the Simon School of Business.</div>
<div>Work in collaboration with subject librarians to build liaisons with faculty, students, and staff in the collection, curation, and reuse of data.</div><div>Provide support in the discovery, use, and management of locally created and externally available data. </div>
<div>Develop best practices for data management, stewardship, and sustainable programs.</div><div>Provide support for researchers and students on collection, storage, preservation, and use of data, including meeting funding agency data management requirements. </div>
<div>Collaborate with subject librarians to develop sustainable and domain-appropriate data services in support of research across the River Campus.</div><div>Participate in research support and instruction for academic departments and collaborate with subject librarians.</div>
<div>Monitor new data and metadata requirements, practices, and standards adopted by government agencies and domain groups.</div><div>The Data Librarian may serve as a liaison to one or more academic departments.</div><div>
<br></div><div>Required Qualifications:</div><div>Master’s degree in science, information science, or related data-intensive discipline or a Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program </div><div>An understanding of the research process as demonstrated by academic or work experience</div>
<div>Demonstrated understanding of the issues involved with data management and curation, including format migration, preservation, metadata, and data retrieval</div><div>Knowledge of research data lifecycle concepts and issues</div>
<div>Familiarity with federal funding requirements for data management</div><div>Familiarity with common metadata standards such as DDI</div><div>Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment</div><div>Excellent written and oral communication skills</div>
<div><br></div><div>Desired Qualifications:</div><div>Experience with institutional (DSpace, Fedora, DigiTool) or subject repository systems</div><div>Knowledge of trends and issues in higher education, research, and technology</div>

The River Campus Libraries, the largest of three library systems at the University of Rochester, is a leader in user-centered design research, institutional repositories, and web-based services.
