Hi All -

*The 2012 ESIP Summer
Meeting<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Summer_2012_Meeting>
* planning is coming together. Thanks to all who have contributed to the
theme and already submitted sessions. The final theme is: "ESIP Community
Leadership: Innovating throughout the Data Lifecycle". The theme builds on
the meme that ESIP participants are leaders in their domain of expertise
and by participating in community effort they create innovation through the
entire data lifecycle and for their particular organization.

    - Registration is
open<http://www.regonline.com/Register/Checkin.aspx?EventID=1078265>-
Early bird rate through June 15. For the first time, virtual
participants
are requested to register as well as the in person participants.
    - Session submission
    <http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Summer_2012_Meeting#Submit_a_Session>and
plenary speaker ideas are requested through March 31. Session submission is
open to anyone in the community. Even if it's just an idea start the
session form and others interested in similar topics might add on.

outstanding applicants from all over the country. In particular, if you
know students interested in Discovery, IT&I, Cloud, Visualization please
share this opportunity.

*Around the Federation: *

    - Jim Frew, professor at UCSB and past ESIP president, was featured in
an article last week in Martin and
McCune<http://www.miller-mccune.com/science/the-background-on-your-bytes-40220/>on
provenance of ocean color data. Exciting work!
    - AGU ESSI is using the ESIP wiki to coordinate session
submissions<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/2012_AGU_ESSI_Session_Ideas>in
an effort to reduce sessions that need to be combined after the fact.
